PARADIP: A man was arrested by Paradip Police for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl of Sandhkuda area under Paradip police limits on Wednesday. The accused has been identified as Malay Akala.
Police said the victim along with her friends was participating in the Nuadi Khela festival on Monday in the village when the incident occurred. The girl had gone to a nearby field to attend to nature’s call when Malay forcibly took her to an abandoned school building and raped her. He then left her at her house in the wee hours of Tuesday. The girl narrated the incident to her parents who then filed a case.
Police said both the victim and the accused have been sent for medical test.
CRIMINALS HELD: Four notorious criminals were arrested by Paradip Police on Tuesday for hurling bombs at a drapery in Paradip town, last week. Revolvers and live cartridges have been seized from their possession.
Sources said the criminals had demanded ` 2 lakh from a cloth merchant Chinmay Khuntia. When Khuntia did not oblige, they hurled bombs at his shop in which two persons were injured.
The arrested have
been identified as Deepak Mallick, Chittaranjan Baral, Bunu Mandal and Padia Nayak.
