BHUBANESWAR: The State Government has decided to construct buildings for highschools in 300 gram panchayats during 2012-13.

  Minister of State for School and Mass Education Pratap Jena announced this while replying to the discussion on the demand for grant of the School and Mass Education Department in the Assembly on Friday.

  The Minister said that the State Government has decided to construct 100 bed girls’ hostels in 130 backward blocks in the state. It has been estimated each of the hostel will cost ` 1.57 crore. Besides, the State Government has allocated ` 160 crore for execution of the midday meal scheme in the primary schools of the state.

  A provision of ` 5 crore has been made for establishment of the second sainik school in the State, Jena said and added that ` 5 crore has also been provided for construction of new office buildings of the district education officers. The State Government has alloted ` 505 crore under the Sarba Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) for 2012-13, the Minister said and added that ` 150 crore has been provided for implementation of Rashtriya Siksha Abhiyan scheme.
