BHUBANESWAR: Former Nimapara IIC Bimal Nayak surrendered before a local court here on Monday. Nayak had fled with help of a mob after he was allegedly caught taking bribe on January 6.
The court will hear his bail plea on Tuesday. Two cases were registered against him after his escape. In one, he was granted anticipatory bail by the Orissa High Court whereas in the other, he had to surrender.
RAPIST JAILED : The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate on Monday sentenced a person to seven years RI for rape. Kasinath Murmu, the convict, was charged with rape, cheating and criminal intimidation after he maintained physical relationship with a 16- year-old girl with an assurance of marriage but did not keep his word.
