BHUBANESWAR: Members, cutting across party lines, today criticised the State Government for the police lathicharge on the agitating gana sikhyaks here on Tuesday and sought immediate fulfilment of their demands.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour, independent MLA Pratap Chandra Sarangi demanded a judicial probe into the incident in which more than 30 gana sikhyaks were injured. Amar Prasad Satpathy (NCP) alleged that the Government is yet to take any step to fulfil their demands despite a ruling by the Speaker.

BJP Legislature Party leader KV Singhdeo, who had been to the Capital Hospital where the injured gana sikhyaks were admitted, criticised the Government for the brutal treatment meted out to them. There should be dialogue to resolve the problem, he said.
