ROURKELA: Passengers of a bus had a miraculous escape on Wednesday night after the bus veered off the NH-143 and fell into a gorge near Kumakela under Chandiposh police limits here. All of them sustained injuries.
Police said the Bhadrak-bound bus was overtaking a vehicle on the ghat road and it collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction. The speeding bus veered off the highway to fall into 20-feet gorge and got stuck in trees.
Around 25 people suffered injuries. Even as five persons were grievously injured, their condition is stated to be stable. Meanwhile, a pick-up van ferrying a wedding party from Nuagaon block to Bondamunda turned turtle near Ashiana Colony of Bisra police limits on Thursday noon. Six persons were injured.
