Kandhamal administration asked for report

The State Government on Wednesday sought a report from Kandhamal district administration and Odisha Primary Education Programme Authority (OPEPA) on the alleged physical attack on job seekers from outside the district for the Sikshya Sahayak (SS) posts.

Both the Kandhamal district collector  and the OPEPA project director have been asked to submit reports about the circumstances that led to the assault on the aspirants from other districts at Phulbani town, the previous day, Minister of State for School and Mass Education Rabi Narayan Nanda told this paper.

“The State Government will take appropriate action after examining the  reports,” Nanda said, adding that there is no proposal to change criteria for SS recruitment. Candidates from across the State can apply for the post anywhere in Odisha, he added.

Kui Samaj Samanyaya Samiti (KSSS), an outfit of Kui tribes, led by its convenor Lambodar Kanhar allegedly attacked candidates from other districts. About 30 persons, including women, were reportedly injured in the incident.
