Ravenshaw introduces pass system for entry

Having to deal with increasing troubles on account of trespassing on the campus, Ravenshaw University has introduced entry and vehicle pass system.

University authorities have issued passes to the students while all entrants are being registered and noted at the gates. All the vehicles, including two-wheelers, used by the students and faculty to commute to the campus have been listed and passes issued with their numbers printed on them.

It has been made mandatory to stick the passes on their vehicles and the entry and exit are being noted by gatekeepers. While the students have been instructed to put on their identity cards on the campus, all visitors to the campus have to register at the gates with complete details like purpose of visit. Their vehicles are also being registered on entry. “We have introduced the system from October 6. The move is aimed at screening genuine students and preventing outsiders and unwanted elements from entering the campus, which has led to several unpleasant incidents in the past.

A database has been created on vehicles used by students and both identity cards and vehicle passes have been made compulsory for them,” Registrar Smarapriya Mishra said.
