Grievances to be heard on Mondays

The Panchayati Raj Department on Tuesday instructed all the BDOs to hear public grievances every Monday instead of Saturday.

The directive came in the wake of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik asking district collectors to hold joint hearing of public grievances on Monday at the last conference of the collectors here on September 27.

Hearing public grievances on Monday will allow the district collector five days to redress and follow up the matter. Naveen asked the district collectors and SPs to jointly hold the grievance day at block level to save the general public the trouble of visiting the district headquarters.  Accordingly, Additional Chief Secretary, Public Grievance and Pension Administration, Priyabrat Patnaik issued instructions to all secretaries, heads of departments and district collectors to hear public grievance on every working Monday from 10 am to 5 pm.
