Dr Almas Ali dead

Member of the Steering Committee on Health under the Planning Commission for the 12th Five-Year Plan, Dr Almas Ali, passed away here on Thursday. He had a fall in his house and was admitted to a private hospital where he succumbed.

 Born in Berhampur in 1950, Dr Ali was a clinical haematologist with keen interest in social and developmental research.

He had been involved over three decades in social research on health issues, particularly relating to tribal and weaker sections.

He was associated with the Union Government, UNDP and PFI in various capacities.
