Veteran TU leader passes away

Veteran coal trade union leader Prafulla Kumar Pradhan died at his South Balanda residence in Talcher following cardiac arrest. He was 81.

Pradhan was a prominent leader of the Indian National Trade Union Congress. He had played a vital role in the trade union movement not only in the State but also at national level for past many decades.

He started his career in 1952 from Rampur coalfield and after 10 years moved to Talcher coalfield where he was the general secretary of INTUC for many years.

Pradhan had worked relentlessly for the welfare of coal workers.

“His death is a great loss to the trade union movement,’’ said Souvagya Pradhan, leader of Indian National Trade Union Congress.
