44 affected in Bhadrak

Dengue cases are on the rise in Bhadrak. The disease which started in mid-September has till date affected 44 persons.

Sources in the District Hospital said while till last week 25 persons were diagnosed as dengue positive, the number rose to 44 on Saturday. Nine of these 44 patients are from Dhamnagar block.

Thirty more persons are reportedly suffering from fever in some areas of the district and hospital staff suspect it to be dengue.

Additional District Medical Officer Debasis Dey said 17 persons had been diagnosed with dengue in Dhamnagar block only.

A team of doctors that was sent to Kantidola panchayat on Saturday collected blood samples of 15 persons of which, nine were found dengue positive. Two temporary control rooms have been opened in the district hospital to provide medical aid to the affected persons.
