Bill on slum-free state in winter session

For a slum-free Odisha, a bill will be piloted in the winter session of the Assembly, said Minister for Urban Development, Raghunath Mohanty. He was here on Saturday to review development works undertaken by the Dhenkanal Municipality.

Mohanty told mediapersons that the State Government is also working towards ensuring water and housing facilities under every municipality and NAC.

On the sluggish progress of works under the Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme (IHSDP) in Dhenkanal, the Minister said that he had directed the District Collector to expedite the works.

Of the 608 houses to be set up under IHSDP, only 24 have come up till date.

He further said that he had not received any proposals from the Dhenkanal administration to start town bus service.

Municipal Chairman Monica Sharma and Collector Bishnu Prasad Panda were present.
