Kumar Utsav from tomorrow

The Pilgrim City of Puri is all set to host the annual three-day cultural extravaganza - Kumar Utsav - which promises to be bigger and better this time.

The event will be inaugurated by Governor MC Bhandare on Monday at the Puri beach. Special attraction will be Bollywood singer Kunal Ganjawala who will perform on the concluding night on Wednesday. Similarly, Ollywood nite section of the Utsav on Tuesday will showcase songs by popular Odia singers.

The event will showcase dance forms from states. Prominent among them are, Jhumar, Bhangra, Gidda, Bardoi Shikia, besides Odissi and Paika dances.

Being organised for the last 32 years by Shrikhetra Youth Cultural Association (SYCA), the event attracts tourists in large numbers, both from India and the world.

Chief Information Commissioner Tarunkanti Mishra, Tourism and Culture Minister Maheswar Mohanty, Secretary Ashok Tripathy and MP Pinkai Mishra will be special guests.

The Shrikhetra Association has collaborated with the Tourism and Culture Department and Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Kolkata, for smooth conduct of the Utsav.
