CPI demo for rollback in petrol price hike

Activists of the CPI’s zonal committee here on Sunday staged a demonstration at Rajmahal Square protesting the hike in petrol and diesel prices.

The activists took out a rally from the party’s State office at Ashok Nagar and converged at Rajmahal Square where they staged a road blockade to register their protest against the Central Government’s anti-people policies.

Addressing the agitators, CPI zonal secretary Sura Jena said the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre is dancing to the tunes of the oil companies. While the Centre has failed to control the price rise of essential commodities, the hike in diesel and cap on the allotment of LPG cylinder for domestic consumption has made the life of common man miserable, he added.

While demanding immediate rollback of the hike in diesel price, Jena threatened to intensify agitation across the State.
