The State Government will set up a second campus of Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) in the State very soon.

Minister, Employment and Technical Education and Training(ETET) Department Pratap Keshari Deb announced that the decision to form ‘BPUT-II’ campus was finalised after the State Government joined the Central Government’s Rashtriya Uchchatar Siksha Abhiyan (RUSA).

Speaking to mediapersons on Saturday, Deb said as per RUSA guidelines, each university was allowed to have only about 70 to 100 colleges under it. Currently BPUT has more than 170 colleges under it. “We need to bifurcate all the colleges under BPUT into two parts based on the region. The College of Engineering and Technology (CET) will most likely be designated as BPUT - II,’’ said Deb.

Deb also added that ideally there should be about four campuses for the smooth functioning of the technical colleges in the State.
