BSL Contract Agency Owner Detained

Owner and manager of Jharkhand-based United Air Express contract agency Laxmi Narayan Tiwari and Vidya Mohapatra respectively were detained by Dhenkanal police in connection with the missing case of three contract labourers in Bhushan Steel Plant here.

Owner and manager of Jharkhand-based United Air Express contract agency Laxmi Narayan Tiwari and Vidya Mohapatra respectively were detained by Dhenkanal police in connection with the  missing case of three contract labourers in Bhushan Steel Plant here.

The missing labourers are Bunu Nayak, Sudhir Behera and Ranjit Munda, all aged between 24 and 27. Bunu and Sudhir are from Angapada of Angul district while Ranjit belongs to Telkoi in Keonjhar. They were working in the Bushan Steel Plant from July this year and had been missing since the November 13 explosion.

The district administration had constituted an inquiry team comprising District Labour Officer, Odapada Tehsildar and police personnel to identify the missing labourers and exact number of casualties in blast furnace II where the explosion took place.

During investigation, the inquiry team found out that the contract agency had engaged 183 labourers, but had no details about their identity and address. No appointment details were maintained by it. Police said both manager and owner of the contract agency will be kept detained till they provide details about all the labourers whom they had appointed.
