The State Assembly on Thursday  witnessed noisy scenes during the question hour as the Opposition Congress members protested rejection of an adjournment motion notice by the Speaker on the chit fund scam.  The Congress members stood up to protest rejection of discussion on the chit fund scam amid noisy scenes. Transaction of business in the question hour resumed after Speaker Pradip Amat yielded to the demand and assured that the issue will be taken up for discussion on Friday.

Raising the issue later during the zero hour, Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh said that the Opposition could have been informed about the rejection much earlier if Finance Minister Prasanna Acharya was absent.

Singh alleged that Opposition was informed about rejection at 10.10 am as a result of which it could not give notice on another issue. Stating that attempts should not be made to take away the rights of Opposition MLAs in the House, Singh said that any other Minister could have replied to the notice on chit fund scam.
