District unit of BJP expressed its resentment over imposition of Section 144 in front of Bhushan Steel Limited at a protest meeting held at Gudiakateni on Friday.
Hundreds of BJP workers and leaders decided to ask the district administration to withdraw the order. “We will challenge promulgation of Section 144 which is unjustified beside National Highway,” said district unit BJP president Naresh Mohapatra. Besides, they urged the administration to look into plight of labourers working in several industries in Odapada block instead of focusing only on BSL. They demanded that administration and state authorities should monitor construction work of railway over-bridge and expedite works on NH-55.
Besides, supervision of the registers and documents of contractors in GMR and other industries including violation of safety norms should be ensured, they added. They threatened to stage rail roko and road blockade if their demands are not fulfilled. The meeting was held under chairmanship of Mangalpur sarpanch Bhaktabandhu Behera.
