Bhubaneswar: Labour Minister Bijoyshree Routray on Tuesday informed the Assembly that 3,046 contractors were given licence in the State under the Inter-State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1979 for taking labourers outside the State for employment.
In a written reply to a question from Sanjib Kumar Sahu (BJD), the Minister said that 1,18,451 labourers from Odisha went outside for work during 2013 while 1,08,365 labourers went outside the State in 2012 through 2,894 contractors.
