PRIs Members Resign En Masse

Eight PRI members of five panchayats here submitted their resignation letters to Bandhugaon BDO alleging district administration’s apathetic attitude to carry out several developmental programmes in their panchayats.

Earlier this month, 17 elected PRI representatives including samiti members and sarpanchs of Bandhugaon,   Jaguguda, Nilabadi, Garidi, Kapalada,  Almanda, Kumbhariput, Kanagaon, Kaberibada and Pedalada panchayats had resigned from their posts over similar grounds.

The en masse resignations follow last month’s diktat issued first by the Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh (CMAS) leader Nachika Linga.

Two days later by the Srikakulam-Koraput division of the Maoists asking the elected PRI members of Bandhugaon and Narayanpatna blocks to resign from their positions latest by December 5, on the ground that they had failed to ensure development in their areas.
