Around 110 bags of wheat, meant for distribution under Public Distribution System (PDS), were seized from premises of a floor mill at Kaudukola under Basudevpur gram panchayat on Tuesday.
Police said on a tip off about PDS wheat being illegally stocked at Sri Jagannath Chaki floor mill, raids were conducted and its owner Basant Kumar Das arrested. The 110 wheat bags weighed 58 quintals and have been handed over to the marketing inspector of Mahanga block.
Ganja Seized
Excise officials on Tuesday arrested Prasant Kumar Nanda (24) of Jhinkiria village under Cuttack Sadar police limits and seized 24 kgs of ganja worth about `1.5 lakh from his possession.
On a tip off, a special squad of Excise Intelligence and Enforcement Bureau nabbed the accused while he was taking the contraband to his betel shop near Kathajodi bridge. During interrogation Nanda confessed his crime.
