BDA Moots Joint Site Inspection Team

Inspection will be conducted prior to provisioning of building plan approval for multi-storied buildings

Getting building approval will become more stringent as Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) moots establishment of a joint site inspection team.

Representatives of the different departments have been roped in to form the joint site inspection team. The inspection will be conducted prior to provisioning of building plan approval for multi-storied buildings.

BDA chief engineer cum engineer member, Town director, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) city engineer or engineer in-charge of Khurda Municipality or engineer in-charge of Jatni Municipality, Drainage Division representative, Water Resource Department representative and BDA Planning Wing concerned divisional officer will together form the inspection team.  BDA sources said that since real estate development comes under different Departments, forming a joint team to inspect sites was the need of the hour. The team will be mainly responsible in validation of the documents provided by the developers. It will also check for proper off-site infrastructure development like sewerage, drainage, water supply and approach road.

A BDA official said that they have come across cases where the developers gave vague assurance of good sewerage facility, but eventually they fail to do so.

He also added that drainage and sewerage were the biggest problems faced by the city and indiscriminate construction was the reason behind the menace.

The inspections are expected to bring down the number of unplanned constructions in and around the city.
