To address the problem of slow learners and non-performing students, College of Engineering and Technology (CET) has started providing special lectures to students under the World Bankssisted  Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP).

Under the programme, the college has taken up academic support for the weak wherein special classes are arranged for students who fail in specific subjects.

CET’s TEQIP-II coordinator PK Patra said a list of students who have failed to score well during the semester examinations has been prepared from the result-sheet provided by the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT).

Special combined classes are being held for these students for subjects in which they have failed.

Around 15 per cent students are found to be weak in some subjects and majority are from reserved category.

CET has been sanctioned a total of `10 crore under the programme and received `2 crore in the first phase. The rest funds will be released in next five years.
