One Pramila Das of Baulanga village under Pattamundai police limits was burnt alive by her husband here on Tuesday.
Police arrested Pramila’s husband Gopabandhu Das on the charge of uxoricide on Wednesday. He was produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Pattamundai. The court rejected his bail application and remanded him to judicial custody.
IIC of Pattamundai police station Amitav Mohapatra said the accused admitted the crime and further investigation was on.
Police made the arrest following the FIR lodged by Pramila’s father Gopinath Das alleging that Gopabandhu had killed his daughter. Gopabandhu had been torturing Pramila finding fault with her for being unable to conceive child. They were married for 10 years.
