New High Court judge takes oath

Justice Raghuvir Dash was sworn in as judge of the Orissa High Court. The oath of office was administered by Acting Chief Justice PK Mohanty at a function held at the court here.

 With the appointment of Justice Dash, the strength of judges in the Orissa High Court has gone up to 12 though 10 posts are still vacant. Prior to his elevation, Justice Das was the presiding officer of the Industrial Tribunal Bhubaneswar.

 Born on February 14, 1954 at Sawantpur village in Bargarh district, Justice Dash passed law from the Lajpat Rai Law College under Sambalpur University in 1977 and joined Odisha Judicial Service in 1980. In 1988 he was promoted to the position of sub-judge and was later elevated as additional district judge of Puri in 2001. He became District and Sessions Judge in 2007 and was posted in the courts of Ganjam,  Phulbani, Gajapati, etc. He had also served as the Judge of Special Vigilance Court in between.
