Koraput seeks Rs 6 crore relief

District administration has sought Rs 6.20-crore relief package for the farmers who sustained crop loss in recent flood.

Official sources said after getting the reports from different departments, the administration has reported to the Special Relief Commissioner of Odisha about the damage of rabi paddy crop in over 19,000 hectares (ha) in Jeypore sub-division.

The relief would be distributed only after approval of the Commissioner as per the flood relief package announced by the Chief Minister a few days back for the KBK region. Jeypore was worst affected in the recent flood in KBK region as crop fields in over 300 villages were submerged.
