DTET moots web-based Central Placement Cell

The State Government has decided to set up a web-based Central Placement Cell (CPC) to address the employment needs of students pursuing technical education.

The Directorate of Technical Education and Training (DTET) has issued a notification for the establishment of a web-based CPC at Niyojan Bhawan. The CPC will be operational for all the government engineering colleges, polytechnic institutes and Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) in the State.

DTET Additional Secretary Ratnakar Rout wrote a letter to the Technical Education and Training Director apprising him about the State Government’s decision and asking him to coordinate the establishment of the CPC.

Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) had a placement cell in its camp office at Gandamunda. But the placement cell was in limbo for the past few years. The BPUT students have repeatedly protested the lack of a proper placement department that can coordinate between the students and the companies to conduct the placements.

The web-based CPC will allow the students to register their details at their web portal. This will in turn create a central database of students pursuing technical education and assist in the placements. The CPC will initially be operated from Niyojan Bhawan. Later, it will be shifted to an ITI campus coming up at Gandamunda. The services of CPC is expected to be extended to the private engineering colleges in a phase-wise manner.
