The State Congress has decided to start filing FIRs against Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and the State Government, for irregularities in the distribution of BPL rice at the capital city, from July 11.

Two FIRs will be lodged at capital and Kharavela Nagar police stations on the first day, former president of the Bhubaneswar District Congress Committee (DCC) Manoranjan Das said.

A procession of Congress workers and leaders will start from the Congress Bhavan and reach the two police stations to file the FIRs.

The FIRs will be filed in the presence of senior leaders of the party. On subsequent days, FIRs will be filed in other police stations of the city. The Congress has decided to file FIRs in all the police stations across the State from July 11 to July 17 against the Chief Minister and the State Government for reducing the per capita rice for BPL families from 35 kg to 25 kg by violating Central guidelines.

A preparatory meeting was held on Sunday under the presidentship of Bhubaneswar DCC president Shuvendu Mohanty.

Observers have been appointed for all the police stations in the city for the successful implementation of the programme.

This is the first all-Odisha programme to be taken up by the State Congress after a gap of more than a month after the change of OPCC president.
