CESU to keep a tab on crusher units

The Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU) has decided to go after crusher units operating under its jurisdiction to ascertain their energy consumption. Since crushers are power guzzlers and scores are located in Khurda, CESU is planning to check level of pilferage to reduce theft which in turn can reduce burden on other consumers. It was decided at a review meeting on Wednesday.

During the review by CEO Sudarsan Nayak, activities of Central Meter Reading Test squads were assessed.

For April and May, in above-20 KW category consumers, 2,698 units were verified of which seven meters were found defective, while 62 were abnormal. Consumers were imposed Rs17.61 lakh as fine.
