HC order to DTET

In a significant order, the Orissa High Court (HC) on Monday directed the Director, Technical Education and Training (DTET) to conduct fresh entrance test to fill up the remaining vacant seats in the private diploma engineering institutions of the State.

Hearing a writ petition filed by Odisha Private Engineering Schools Association (OPESA), a division bench headed by Justice BN Mohapatra directed the DTET to hold the fresh test and complete the process by August 15.

The petitioner had approached the HC seeking a direction to the Government to conduct a fresh entrance as after the first round of admission, at least 60 per cent seats have remained vacant.

According to the petitioner, there are about 40,000 seats available in different subjects and streams.

However, after the entrance conducted by Director, Technical Education and Training , about 40 per cent of total seats could be filled up. Hearing the case, Justice Mohapatra directed a fresh round of entrance test to fill up the vacant seats in the private diploma engineering institutions of the State.
