CM moves Katoch on classical status

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday requested the Culture Ministry to place the recommendation of the committee of linguistic experts before the Union Cabinet.

 In a telephonic conversation with Union Culture Minister Chandresh Kumari Katoch, the Chief Minister said the linguistic committee of the Central Sahitya Academy has recommended that classical status be granted to Odia language, a long pending demand of the State.

 Earlier, the Chief Minister had also written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh requesting him to accord classical status to Odia.
