International Tiger Day observed

The International Tiger Day was observed in Satkosia Tiger Reserve at Chhotkei nature camp by Nature Environment & Wildlife Society (NEWS) in collaboration with Satkosia wildlife division.

The Angul district honorary wildlife warden Prasanna kumar Behera presided over the workshop and DFO of Satkosia wildlife division Pradip Kumar Sethy attended as chief guest.

Resource person Pratyush P Mohapatra, and nature lover Pradeep Sahu spoke on issues related to tiger conservation.

“Tiger is an endangered to critical endangered species as per identification by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Tiger conservation is the need of the hour for our eco-system,” Sahu said.

Prasanna Behera spoke on the Global status of the tiger’s population, different sub-species and population of Royal Bengal tigers along with conservation practices and policies.

DFO Sethi laid stress on saving tigers.
