The routes of the buses to be introduced in the town in a couple of months was decided by Revenue Divisional Commissioner (ND), G Srinivas on Thursday.
At a meeting convened by Srinivas here, it was decided that the buses will ply on four routes on Khetrajpur-Ainthapali, Ainthapali-Dhanupali, Dhanupali-Samaleswari temple and Sambalpur City Railway Station-Government bus stand. Besides, the buses will run between Sambalpur and neighbouring towns of Hirakud and Burla besides Bargarh and Jharsuguda.
The objective is to develop an efficient and reliable public transportation infrastructure.
The buses will be introduced on PPP mode. The possible problems with stoppages were also discussed. Another meeting is scheduled to be held on June 17.
Head, Urban Infrastructure and Transportation, Meghraj Capital Advisors Private Limited, which is the transaction advisor of the project, Praksh Iyer said the State Government will provide the buses while private partner will be finalised to manage and maintain the buses in return for share of the income.
