Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reiterated his commitment towards development of the State and empathised with people over the Orissa High Court bench issue during his whirlwind campaign to this part of the State.
Ahead of urban local body polls on November 22, he addressed public gatherings at Khariar, Khariar Road and Bargarh on Tuesday. Like other parts of Western Odisha, here too the Chief Minister blamed the Congress and BJP of playing politics over the HC bench issue.
Speaking both in Odia and Hindi due to presence of a large number of Hindi speaking voters, Naveen called upon them to vote for BJD candidates.
Replying to a query on payment of bonus to paddy farmers, the Chief Minister said it was under consideration of the State Government. While the BJD is well placed in Khariar and Khariar Road NACs, it is pitted against Congress in Bargarh. Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Prasanna Acharya refuted allegations of promoting dynastic politics.
Balangir: The Chief Minister also campaigned at Patnagarh for BJD candidates on Tuesday. He blamed the Union Government of remaining silent on the demand of HC bench in the region. In Balangir district, ULB polls would be held in Patnagarh and Kantabanji. Political leaders in Titilagarh have decided to boycott the polls demanding district status for the area.
On Monday, Naveen had visited Kantabanji and prior to him, cine stars Anubhav Mohanty and Siddhant Mohapatra had campaigned for the party candidates.
For BJP, State president of the party KV Singhdeo campaigned in Patnagarh along with PCC president Jayadev Jena.
