One Arrested for Theft in Train

BHUBANESWAR: The Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested a person in connection with a theft incident in a running train here late Sunday night.

The accused, Jagatjiban Palai (25) alias Pitu, is a resident of Tangi in Khurda. A number of theft cases are pending against him,  GRP sources said.

The complainant couple, Mintu and Ratna Ghose, were travelling from Kolkata to Puri in Puri-Howrah Express.

Late in the night, while they were asleep, Pitu decamped with Ratna’s  bag, which had two mobile phones, gold ornaments and other important documents.

On reaching Puri, Ratna found out that her bag was missing. Mintu lodged a complaint with GRP Puri.

 The accused was nabbed from a hideout in Phalikia Bazar slum here. All stolen articles were recovered from him. The accused was produced in court.
