SAMBALPUR: A case has been filed against a teacher of Brajamohan Pattnaik Primary School at the Sambalpur Town police station for allegedly beating up Class V student Kamal Bag on Tuesday.

The accused teacher, Kishore Sahu, is blind and has been working in the school for the last 10 years.

Sources said the teacher asked Kamal to get a packet of ‘gutkha’ for him. As Kamal was leaving, his leg accidentally touched that of the teacher, which infuriated Sahu. In a fit of rage, he beat up Kamal severely, leaving him bleeding from one ear.

However, Sahu refuted the allegation and said it was a conspiracy against him as he does not consume ‘gutkha’. He has been placed under suspension.
