Four Missing as Boat Capsizes

BHAWANIPATNA: Four persons went missing after a boat ferrying them capsized in Indravati reservoir in Kalahandi district on Wednesday. Two others who were in the same boat managed to swim to safety.

The country boat, carrying six persons, was on its way from Patepadar to Kanasakuli under Thuamul-Rampur police limits when it capsized after the boatman lost control, said police. The mishap occurred after the boat had covered 3.5 km. While two persons managed to swim ashore, there was no trace of four others.

The four missing persons are Ananta Majhi (50), Ramesh Majhi (20), Jayanti Majhi (60) and Bhuban Sahu (50). “We have launched a search operation to trace the missing persons in the reservoir,” Sub-Collector Sukanta Kumar Tripathi said.
