Woman Robbed by Colleagues

BHUBANESWAR: A 50-year-old woman, Premalata Khatua, was allegedly abducted by her colleagues and robbed of her ornaments on Friday morning.

Khatua works as a Class-IV employee in a Government office at Nayapalli here. She was waiting at Dumduma to board a bus to office at 9 am when two of her colleagues reached there on a motorcycle and offered her a lift. She agreed to accompany them. Instead of taking her to office, they took her to a deserted area near Kalinga Vihar under Tamando police limits and robbed her of gold chain, a ring, mobile phone and some cash.

They also assaulted her inflicting grievous injuries on her head.

Locals spotted the injured woman and informed the personnel of PCR van, who rushed Khatua to Capital Hospital. She was later shifted to a private hospital.

Sources said the accused have been identified and police were inquiring into the matter. Inspector-in-Charge of Tamando police station Sk Sarifuddin was not available for his comments.
