Wet Ganesh Puja for S Odisha Likely

BHUBANESWAR: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said a low pressure area is likely to form off the Odisha coast from August 28.

Since the system would form over west central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal, many southern Odisha districts will receive showers under its impact. North Andhra Pradesh coast will also receive rain during the period. Currently, a cyclonic circulation has formed over the region and it will concentrate into a low pressure in next three days.

The system is expected to trigger rain over most parts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput and adjoining Nabarangpur and Kalahandi districts. In many parts, the showers would be heavy but coastal pockets may witness cloudy and even dry conditions.

The IMD said rainfall activity is likely to start from August 27 and increase thereafter which would mean southern Odisha may experience a wet Ganesh Puja.
