Ex-official’s Assets to be Confiscated

BHUBANESWAR: The Special Vigilance Court on Wednesday issued orders for confiscation of property of a retired employee of the State Government Bikram Keshari Patnaik.

Patnaik, a former senior manager of Odisha Construction Company, was chargesheeted in March, 1996 for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Earlier, the State Vigilance had conducted raids on Patnaik’s residence and office here at Kharavela Nagar and seized cash and valuables worth `8.35 lakh.

The Special Court passed the order for confiscation of Patnaik’s house at Kharavela Nagar, 71 grams of gold and asked him to deposit `10,000.

The court had recorded statements of 22 witnesses in this case before pronouncing its verdict.
