BHUBANESWAR: The Nayapalli police on Monday arrested an imposter who tried to extort money from a city-based builder by posing as a police officer.
The accused, identified as Bighnaraj Nayak, is a native of Dharamsala under Jajpur police limits. He was residing at IRC Village in the Capital.
Bighnaraj was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by one Manoranjan Nayak.
Bighnaraj, police said, had identified himself as a sub-inspector with the Commissionerate of Police and demanded money from Manoranjan on the pretext of some shortcomings.
A case was registered in this connection at Nayapalli police station and the accused was produced in a local court which sent him to judicial custody.
