BHUBANESWAR: Anil Patnaik, the Additional Tehsildar of Ranpur, has been placed under suspension for irregularities in reservation of seats for election to Ranpur Urban Local Body as result of which the poll had to be deferred.
Nayagarh Collector Hemant Kumar Padhi served a show-cause notice on the Additional Tehsildar after the irregularities came to the fore.
Earlier, State Election Commissioner RN Senapati had rescheduled the polls to Ranpur NAC after anomalies were found in seat reservation. Originally scheduled on April 7, election to the NAC will now be held on May 5.
