Two Detained for Child Sacrifice

KENDRAPARA: Two persons including a ‘tantrik’ have been detained on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in killing of an eight-year-old boy in Gokhapada village under Marsaghai police limits of Kendrapara district.

The body of Bikram Nayak alias Rajesh was found with his  throat slit near river Luna on Tuesday evening. Some passersby noticed the body and informed police who sent it to Government Hospital for post-mortem, said IIC of Marsaghai police station Sukanta Patra.

Basing on a complaint filed by the boy’s mother, Purnima Nayak at the police station, cops detained Abhinas Chaudhury (65), a ‘tantrik’ and Bairagi Das (55) of Gokhapada. Purnima had alleged in her complaint that Rajesh had gone to attend a ‘yajna’ in Dasamouzi village and did not return. She suspected sacrifice as the reason behind her son’s killing.

As the news of detention spread, an irate mob set the house of Das on fire. Police suspect that the miscreants killed the boy in the village and dumped the body on the river bank.
