BALASORE:A youth was arrested on Tuesday on charges of sexually assaulting a 25-year-old woman in Bhogarai area of the district. The woman, who sustained multiple injuries, is undergoing treatment at district headquarters hospital.
Police said Bubu Das of Dubasahi village under Kamarda police limits entered the woman’s house at about 9.30 am on Monday when her husband and other family members were out for work. He approached her to have physical relationship. When she tried to raise an alarm, he assaulted and raped her.
She was rescued by a neighbour who informed her family who rushed her to nearby hospital.
The victim was later shifted to district headquarters hospital as her condition deteriorated. “The woman is recovering and we are waiting to record her statement,” police said.
The accused was produced in court which remanded him in judicial custody.
