6 Affected by Jaundice

SALEPUR:Six Class X students of a private residential coaching centre at Ward-5 (Brahmana Sahi) of Choudwar tested positive for jaundice on Saturday.

After Cuttack, the outbreak of jaundice in Choudwar Municipality has created panic among the residents.

The students generally consume water supplied through Public Health Department pipelines.

Sources said leaking pipelines is the primary cause of outbreak of the disease.

As the supply water pipes have developed cracks at many places, the drinking water is polluted by filth of drain and sewage.

However, no step has been taken by the administration yet to monitor the drinking water supply or clean the drains.

At Cuttack, the outbreak spread to several localities with 12 more cases detected on Friday, taking the total to 116.
