Hrudananda Ray Dead

BHUBANESWAR: Noted Odia writer, philosopher and orator Prof Hrudananda Ray passed away on Monday. He was recipient of many prestigious awards for his contribution to Odia literature.

 Ray was Professor of Philosophy and a prolific orator. Besides, he was associated with International Jagannath Society (IJS) and a fore-runner in spreading Jagannath cult.

“Odisha has lost a person of great wisdom and high intellect. As a Professor of Philosophy, he earned fame for himself and influenced masses for almost five decades,” Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak said in his condolence message.

Pradesh Congress president Prasad Harichandan hailed Prof Ray as a versatile academician, adding that as a litterateur, his contribution to Odia literature will be remembered for long.

 Some of his works include ‘America-Jetiki Dekhichi Jetiki Bujhichi,’ ‘Jane Anubhabi Anubhabare- Atmajibani’ and ‘Bhagabata Samiksha’ among others.
