NSUI Members Clash With Cops

BHUBANESWAR: National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on Friday clashed with police while taking out a rally to Naveen Nivas to teach Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Odia.

NSUI leaders took out a procession from Congress Bhavan and proceeded towards Naveen Nivas. They clashed with police near Sishu Bhavan square when the latter tried to stop them.

Armed with ‘Chhabila Madhu Barnabodha’ (the most popular Odia prime), chalk, duster, pen and writing pads, the Congress supporters marched towards Naveen Nivas.

While no one was injured from either side, dozens of NSUI members along with their leader Itish Pradhan were arrested.

Criticising the State Government for neglecting Odia language, Pradhan said the NSUI will continue its efforts to teach the Chief Minister Odia. Besides, he also demanded that the State Government should accord official language status to Odia.
