Utkal Divas, Police Formation Day Celebrated

ROURKELA: Sundargarh administration, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), NIT-R and a host of NGOs on Friday celebrated Utkal Divas to commemorate formation of Odisha State in 1936. At Rourkela, Law and Panchayati Raj Minister Arun Sahoo joined a function at Uditnagar Ground organised by the City administration while Collector Bhupendra Singh Poonia paid floral tributes to the great leaders of Odisha at the district headquarters town. Chief Executive Officer of RSP Ashwini Kumar garlanded the statues of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das, Biju Patnaik, Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das and Sahid Birsa Munda.

Jharsuguda: The district-level Utkal Divas was inaugurated by Deputy Speaker Sananda Marandi at Handle Bhawan here on Friday. Brajrajnagar MLA Radharani Panda, Collector BB Patnaik, SP US Dash and OLIC chairman Anup Sai spoke. BMYM, in association with Swatik Club, organised a blood donation camp at Agrasen Bhawan. Brajrajnagar Municipality Chairman Nandkishore Agarwal inaugurated the camp. Around 40 units of blood were collected.

Nayagarh: The district administration observed Utkal Divas. Ranpur MLA Rabi Mahapatra, Collector HK Padhi, SP Manoranjan Mohanty, PD DRDA SK Barik, Sub-Collector NC Swain and Prof Vijaya Choudhury were present. Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) organised a training camp on youth leadership. Prof Byomakesh Rath, Prof Basant Rath, Surya Narayan Mishra of NYK, social activists Prashant Dash, Rajsingh Behera and Kishore Kar spoke. At least 30 youths attended the camp.

Berhampur: Inspector General (SR) Amitav Thakur on Friday called upon the police to perform duties sincerely and gain confidence of the public during the celebration of State Police Formation Day at Ambapua here. Police personnel were felicitated on the occasion for their outstanding performances.

Paralakhemundi: The Police Formation Day was observed at Bedaguda here on Friday. Gajapati SP Dr Satyajit Nayak attended the function. He urged the police officials to maintain law and order across the district. He also felicitated the police officers of the district for their performances.

Athagarh: The Press Club here celebrated Utkal Divas  by garlanding the statues of leaders of the State and organising a meeting at Biswanath Bidyapith. Senior advocate Fani Bhusan Ratha, writer Dr Narayan Panda, educationist Dr Durga Charan Mohanty, president Sarbeswar Panda, secretary Dinesh Das and adviser Sachidananda Panda were present. The DIPRO also observed the day at a function where NAC Chairperson Suchitra Sahoo, Sub-­Collector Harish Chandra Nayak and writer Dr Narayan Panda attended.
