CUTTACK: A special team of Commissionerate Police, led by Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora, on Saturday raided the Choudwar Circle Jail and seized several materials including narcotic drugs from different cells.
The seized items included five packets of ganja, five chillums (smoking pipes), around 200 pouches of gutkha, 20 packets of cigarettes and 10 lighters. Later, the seized items were destroyed, said ACP Trinath Mishra.
Commissionerate Police directed the authorities to verify cells of the jail frequently to prevent use of offensive materials inside the premises. Cuttack District Sessions Judge SN Mishra and Collector NC Mishra were also present during the raid.
On September 3, the Commissionerate Police had also conducted a raid on Choudwar Circle Jail and seized offensive materials including two LED televisions, a sound system, narcotic drugs, 250 grams of ganja and `3,220 in cash.
