BHUBANESWAR: More than 100 BJP workers on Monday laid siege to Laxmi Sagar police station here for over two hours accusing the local police of showing undue favour to ruling party leaders.
Led by local BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan, the agitators alleged that the local cops, in connivance with BJD leaders, have harboured criminals of the locality.
“Illegal sale of liquor and gutkha, drug peddling and sex trade in beauty parlours are everyday affairs in this area. Though there have been several complaints against certain senior officers in the past, their proximity to local BJD leaders have earned them immunity,” Pradhan said.
DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said, “An Additional DCP-ranked officer is probing the matter. If there is any truth in the allegations, disciplinary action would be initiated.”
